According to the National Coalition on Health Care, health insurance costs are the fastest growing expence for employers. Over the last 10 years, employer-sponsored premiums have risen approximately 130%, and employee payments for health coverage have risen comparably. In 2009 it is projected that $2.5 trillion will be spent on health care, and it is anticipated that by 2018 health care costs will reach $4.4 trillion. In 2007, health care cost an average of $7421 per person. According to the American Heart Association, for every $1 invested in employee wellness and on-site health programming, employers could receive as much as $3 to $7 in return-on-investment. Worksite health promotion programs benefit both the employer and employee.
